Vicksburg, MS – Beechwood Elementary is a prime example of a body of staff and students who have embraced the idea that everybody can be a leader. Recently, students demonstrated their leadership skills to several out of town educators who visited Vicksburg to learn about The Leader in Me process and how it works. One teacher from Arkansas commented, “It’s phenomenal. We don’t have this stuff where we’re at, and we’re excited to be able to take this home with us.”

OPP CITY, AL – The school board in Opp City found the investment in The Leader in Me paid off. After implementing The Leader in Me process throughout several of their schools they are now seeing the results. Many of the students expressed how the habits have changed them, what habit they found most useful, and how they applied it to their studies.

DOVER, DE – Booker T. Washington Elementary School has undergone a tremendous transformation since 2012. Once designated as a “focus school” Booker T. Washington Elementary was recently named a Title I Distinguished school. Superintendent Kevin Fitzgerald attributes this turnaround to The Leader in Me and to the students taking responsibility for their test scores and grades and being proactive in their decision making.

LANCASTER, SC – For Maj. Matt Shaw of the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office this was no normal business lunch. The plan he was being presented was comprehensive, complete with talking points, and left Shaw “stunned”. The presenter was a 7-year-old second grader from Buford Elementary School. Using skills she’s learned through The Leader in Me, Cali Bell presented Maj. Shaw with a plan to provide stuffed animals in every sheriff’s patrol car. This idea and process was completely student driven.

The Leader in Me is helping them accomplish their goals. Southern Choctaw’s recent coat drive was a success, collecting over 200 coats, but it also worked to teach the students a valuable lesson in helping others.

Over the past two years, Carmel has used The Leader in Me model and process to encourage creative thinking among their students and staff. Last year the school held a poster competition to transition their creative thinking into art. This year the school unveiled a student created mural, which was then dedicated and signed by last years poster winner with a speech she had written herself.
