After careful thought and planning last spring, the staff and students at Country Oaks Elementary decided it was time for a new school mascot. Since the building opened in 1993, the school has had a sun as its unofficial mascot. “Country Oaks Kids Shine” was the school mantra, and the sun would make appearances at school events like Jump Rope for Heart, the Fun Run, and Community Time. With Country Oaks entering year two of Leader in Me, there was a feeling that an official mascot was needed as a part of the new leadership culture.
