A groundbreaking ceremony for Scott City's long-awaited performing arts theater/Federal Emergency Management Agency safe room will be at 10:30 a.m. June 16, the school board decided Wednesday.
Elementary principal Courtney Kern said she is offering a Summer Leadership Academy, expanding on the Leader in Me program, which goes up through middle school.

Combs Leadership Magnet Elementary in Raleigh, NC was named the recipient of the Dr. Ronald P. Simpson Distinguished Merit Award for 2014. The other day, I overheard a Leander ISD principal say to a community member, “I learned how to teach in the first school district I taught in. I learned how to be a leader when I came to Leander ISD.” LISD has processes throughout our system that are designed to grow everyone into the best he or she can be, whether you are student, teacher or staff member. This concept of growing leaders is really what our Continuous Improvement culture is all about.

RICHMOND — It was nearly 11 a.m. Friday, and Berea Community Elementary Principal Emily Reed had spoken no more than a few words to any of her guests during the school’s first Leadership Day.
But her silence was intentional. For her guests to understand Leader In Me, they needed to see it in action, she said, and that meant stepping back and letting her students take the lead.

MUSCATINE, Iowa — Nearly 300 parents and community members packed the halls of Mulberry Elementary School for Leadership Day.
The event lasted the entire school day, said Mulberry principal Ann Goodman, and was the fourth one the school has held. Leadership Day is tied to the seven habits the grade schools in the Muscatine Community School District teach as part of the district's The Leader in Me program.

At the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, we are more than proud of The Leader In Me and the leadership qualities it is instilling in our children. On a regular basis, we hear success stories from educators, parents and the children themselves.
